1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the Yumalize mobile application (the “App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). These Terms affect your legal rights and obligations. If you do not agree to be bound by all of these Terms, do not access or use the App.
2. The Service
Yumalize provides a tool to help you make more informed food choices. By scanning a product's barcode, you can access data from the Open Food Facts database. This includes nutritional information, ingredient lists, and recognized scoring systems. We also provide a proprietary “Yumalize Score” to offer a simplified, holistic view of a product.
3. Data Source and Accuracy
The App relies on the Open Food Facts database, a crowdsourced, open-source project. While it is a vast and valuable resource, the data is user-submitted and may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or outdated information. Yumalize is not responsible for the accuracy of the data provided. The information presented in the App is for informational purposes only and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical or nutritional advice.
4. Scoring Systems Explained

Nutri-Score, Eco-Score, NOVA Group: These are established, independent scoring systems whose data is retrieved directly from Open Food Facts. Their methodologies are publicly available, and they provide specific insights into nutritional quality, environmental impact, and food processing levels, respectively.

Yumalize Score: This is a supplementary, proprietary score calculated by our algorithm. It synthesizes multiple data points (including the scores above, nutrient levels, and additives) into a single, weighted score from 0 to 100. It is intended as a high-level guide and represents our opinionated assessment of a product's overall profile.
5. Subscription Services
Yumalize offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions to access premium features (“Premium Services”).

Billing and Payments: All payments are processed through the platform on which you downloaded the App (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play Store). You must provide a valid payment method.

Auto-Renewal: Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each subscription period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscriptions through your app store account settings.

Refunds: All purchases are final and non-refundable, except as required by law or the terms of the respective app store.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to misuse the App, including, but not limited to: (a) engaging in any illegal activity; (b) attempting to reverse engineer or decompile the App; (c) using automated scripts to collect information from or otherwise interact with the App; (d) infringing upon the intellectual property rights of others.
7. Intellectual Property
The Yumalize name, logo, and all related intellectual property are owned by the App creators. The data from Open Food Facts is available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. YUMALIZE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL YUMALIZE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP.
9. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the App creator is based, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms within the App. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
